A Trip to the Doctor 🩺

This week marked a huge moment in my chronic illness journey:

I finally had my first appointment with a GI specialist.

I walked in nervous, exhausted, and honestly a little skeptical… and walked out feeling something I haven’t felt in a long time: heard. Truly heard.

For anyone dealing with chronic symptoms, you know how rare and emotional that feeling can be. When someone actually listens — really listens — without dismissing your pain or brushing you off, it feels like a weight lifts off your shoulders.

And that’s exactly what happened.

We Have a Plan. A Real One.

For the first time in a long time, I left an appointment with direction instead of confusion.

✨ I’m being sent in for a CT scan so we can finally start ruling things out and getting answers. Not guesses — real answers.

✨ I also got new perspectives on what might be going on inside my gut and how my symptoms connect in ways I hadn’t considered.

✨ And yes… I got the infamous reminder that nutrition really matters.

Let me repeat it for the people in the back:

FIBER. IS. EVERYTHING.

Apparently my stomach would like more leafy greens and less “playing it safe with toast.” Who knew? (Okay, I knew. But still.)

Time to Rework My Eating Habits

This appointment was a wake-up call — in a hopeful way.

I’m going to be reworking my meals, adding more whole foods, more fiber, and being more intentional with what I’m feeding my body each day.

Not from a place of restriction, but from a place of:

“Hey body, thanks for trying so hard. Let’s give you some help.”

Celebrating the Good Days, Too

On top of everything, I’ve actually had a handful of good days recently — days where I’ve been productive at work, present at home, and not completely drained by symptoms.

And those good days feel even sweeter now that I have forward momentum with my health team.

Looking Ahead With Hope

I’m leaving this appointment feeling grateful, lighter, and honestly excited for next year.

There’s something empowering about finally being pointed in the right direction — like I’m not wandering blindfolded through a maze anymore.

Is everything fixed?

No. But we’re moving.

And movement is everything.

To anyone still waiting on answers, still chasing clarity, or still feeling dismissed by the medical system: don’t give up.

Your “finally heard” moment is coming. Keep pushing. Keep advocating. You deserve answers.

Here’s to progress, fiber, and a healthier year ahead. 💛
